Mick

Loizou

Mick Loizou has not taken a typical pathway to a career in music.

After an early stint as guitarist and vocalist in a band in his younger years, he chose to pursue a career in financial services, which he enjoyed. However, playing and writing music was always an important outlet.

Working from home during Covid led to Mick having more time to pursue his musical interests. He benefitted from the study he completed at the Open Academy of The Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, concentrating on vocals and songwriting, which gave him the confidence to resume performing.

Fast forward a few years, and Mick’s songwriting is inspired by his experiences growing up in a working-class suburb of Sydney and the importance of family and friends. His writing expresses the time friends and family spend together: laughing, crying, eating, drinking, working hard and having each other’s backs.

“My family and my friends are the most important part of my life, and the inspiration for my songs. I am eternally grateful for their support and wish them the best.”

He has hit the ground running and is currently in the studio recording new songs for his debut EP producing a mix of classic rock, country and folk matched with his heartfelt lyrics. Mick’s work is heavily influenced by his songwriting heroes such as Bruce Springsteen, Paul Kelly, Jason Isbell, Lennon/McCartney, and a host of others.

Mick’s music is now available via the links above and he will release more songs later this year. In the meantime, he will be performing regular gigs at local Sydney clubs and continuing to write his authentic songs about love and life, proving that there is no one way to define a music career.
